Early Sunday Morning Update

I am working on Team USA and there are a number of things that I would like to bring to your attention:

Girls 12 -I only have six 11 and 12 year old girls signed up. We need to make two teams or no teams for the brackets to work so we really need four more girls to sign up or these little girls are not going to be able to play. Can you help out these girls by letting your daughter play? E-mail nationals@flattmail.com if you can help.

Girls 16 and 18 – I could use 3-4 more girls here if you have signed up for girls 18 and are of age for girls 16 and would like to play both let me know we might need you.

Girls 18 – I could use one or two girls to play for the Lubbock Warriors as they are short players

Boys 16– There is no true Team USA in boys 16 this year. The one listed as Team USA is from SATCH with Z Landis and E Finley added. The rest of the players on 16 and 18 will play varsity. If you are planning on playing on a boys 18 team (regular team) and boys 16 Team USA e-mail me ASAP. tim@flattmail.com

Boys 18 – we had a varsity team from Odessa Texas drop out yesterday so we will be making five varsity Team USAs. These teams will be like all the rest of the homeschool teams in that they will have players from 15-18 on the team. We have between 7-8 players per team, so there will be plenty of playing time for all.

Meeting Change

Team USA -- the second team USA Meeting for 10, 12 and 14 will be pushed back to 9:00 (originally 8:30).

This changes are to accommodate overlap with games on Monday.

Team USA on sight Registration and Check in will start at 10:00 AM Monday March 10th, closing at 9:00 PM at the convention center.

At the check in you will recieve your Playing Jersey, your free t-shirt and program (if you haven't already recieved them). At that time you will recieve your team assignment.

There is a Team USA Meeting at:

Noon for all 18 and 16's at the convention center.
8:30 PM for ages 10, 12, 14

Player List

We have a Team USA player list available on line. The list will be updated every couple of days, if you registered over the weekend your name may not be on there. If your name is in black you are paid in full. If your name is in red that means that you either owe the $25 player fee, the $50 Team USA fee or both. Many have registered on line recently and you can pay when you arrive in OKC.

We are getting a lot of calls concerning Team USA the number one question is are we full. We are still accepting players in every age division and we will post on the blog as soon as any age division is full.

Team Assignments

Players will be receive team assignment when you check in on Monday. Team USA check-in will be from 10:00am-9:00pm at the Convention Center (same place as player registration and t-shirt pick up). If you request to be on another player’s team we will honor that request. I will be posting registered players on the blog today but I will not list Team USA players, so don’t be surprised when your name is not there.

Final Team USA Counts

We have finalized the Teams for the 2008 National Tournament. When you look at the Team list on the Nationals Blog http://basketballnationals.blogspot.com you will be able to see how many Team USAs there are in each age division. You might notice that there is not a Team USA in boys 16U, that is because all varsity age team USA boys will be playing in Division 3 Boys 18U Division.

Team USA

Team USA – A Team USA is formed from players from around the countrythat are able to come to Nationals. The reasons they play team USA vary:
1) Some play because their team is not able to attend.
2) Some play because they are at Nationals to watch a sibling and they want to have some fun on their own.
3) Some play because they are playing up on a team, but don’t get much playing time. For example they play on an 18U team but are age elgible for Team USA at 16U and since age group time do not conflict they play both.

Each year we have 15-20 Team USA’s in the all age groups. If you are comingto National’s with friends or teammates and would like to play together we can arrange that.
All players on Team USA will play equal playing time for the first 3 quarters. We try to keep teams between 8-9 players. All players are required to complete a player registration in addition to theTeam USA registration.
